About the Lessons:

1.     What levels do you teach?

I teach all levels from beginner to advanced. Levels are A1, A2 (Beginner) B1, B2 (Improving) and C1, C2 (Expert). You can read more on these and the standards I teach to here and here.

2.     What is your teaching methodology?

I use an eclectical communicative methodology see here for more on methodologies

3.     What materials do you use?

I use textbooks, media, online resources and self-created materials.

4.     Do you tailor lessons to my specific needs and goals?

Yes, my lessons are tailored to your learning style and are focused on your specific needs and goals. Together, you and I develop your personal plan and curriculum. You can read more on learning styles here.

5.     How long are the lessons?

Typically lessons last one hour but may be longer or shorter, depending on your level (A1 to C2) and learning goals.

6.     How often should I have lessons?

It all depends on your level (A1 to C2), personal learning goals and the amount of time you can commit to learning Turkish. Typically beginners need to spend more time. You can read more on time committment here.

7.     What platform do you use for online lessons?

I use Zoom as I find it the best platform for personal tutoring. However I am flexible and will use other platforms.

8.     Do you provide homework or assignments?

Yes. It depends on the learners personal curriculum and learning goals.

9.  What if I need to reschedule or cancel a lesson?

Let me know as soon as possible.

About the Teacher:

10.  What are your qualifications and experience in teaching Turkish?

I am a Professor of Turkish Language Education with over 30 years experience teaching Turkish to students from all over the world. My career also includes many years as a teacher tutor where I directed and managed Ankara University’s Turkish Language teacher training school (TOMER) and was the head of Ankara University ……. I am recognised as a leading Turkish Language academic and have published many, frequently referenced, peer reviewed articles. See here for some of these.

11.  Are you a native speaker of Turkish?

Yes.

12.  What is your experience with students of different backgrounds and learning styles?

I have many years experience with students from many backgrounds and cultures. I have taught in multi-cultural settings to students from all over the world. My background is in developing teaching methodologies focussed on each learners own learning style with a particuar emphasis on self-directed autonomous learning and learning in a cultural context.

13.  What are your areas of expertise within the Turkish language? (e.g., grammar, conversation, specific dialects)

My expertise spans all areas from beginner to advanced technical levels.

14.  Do you offer trial lessons?

Yes. My first session, which is free, focusses on understanding a learners needs and goals. My first teaching session is free,after which a learner decides to proceed or not to.

15. Do you offer an online conversational community

Yes. I offer online conversational sessions, where learners chat to each other and practice their conversational skills.

About Pricing and Logistics:

16.  How much do your lessons cost?

My personal tutoring and lessons are priced according to a learners needs and goals. Typically A1, A2 level learners (beginners) may pay €35 to €50 an hour. The same for B1 and B2 level learners (Intermediate). For advanced learners at C1, C2 levels, pricing depends on their specific goals.

17.  What payment methods do you accept?

I accept card payments and SEPA credit transfer payments.

18.  Do you offer discounts for block bookings ?

Yes, I offer discounts for block bookings e.g. 5/10+ lessons.

19.  What are the technical requirements for online lessons?

You will need high speed broadband, a laptop, a camera (built-in or stand-alone) and a microphone (built-in or stand-alone). It’s best for you to have a private space free from noise and distractions.
